Website Builder Tutorials - uploading images

We thought it as about time for our third tutorial. We’ve kept it simple, just a step on from editing text. A very popular reason to build a website is in order to display photos. With Webeden.co.uk you can do this to a private few people (of your choice, obviously!), or make them public to the world at large. Here’s a video guide to uploading images:

How did you find that? What do you want to see next? Leave us a comment below.

  1. Is there a problem with uploading pix today (Monday)?

I’ve tried a couple of images and keep getting an error message? Is it me?!

  2. So sorry, we’re having real problems today with server and database issues. I’m told they will be resolved ’shortly’. Until then, please leave it until 2.30.

  3. Will do. BTW - please delete my blog posting - keeping a record of a temporary glitch that will be solved in half an hour or so seems like a waste of your blog space. I don’t mind :-)

  6. Hi John,

Are you still having this problem? Rather than share your username on the blog, do you want to give us a call? Its 0845 026 1045. Please ask for Ray.

    Thanks,
    Ken

  7. John - are your photos very large? you can make them loads smaller and still get a good effect - means that loading up is much quicker and less likelyhood of things hanging up on you?

There are lots of free gizmos out there that will batch resize your photos for you - so you don’t need to edit them one at a time.

  8. The problem seemed to correct itself but its happening again. Don’t think its to do with the picture size, I can’t even get the image box to open to select an image to upload? I click on ‘insert’ then select ‘images’ then ‘my files’ then nothing happens? Also having the problem again with the Pop Up gallery? The pictures won’t pop up, second time this has happened?

  12. I think my problem is related to my anti virus program stopping the pictures popping up? I’ll give Ray a ring though. Cheers John.

  15. Hi Ken,

yes I thought it must be.

I have been considering starting a blog with wordpress which allows multiple images.
Would it be possible for one of my pages to be a word press blog ?

I know that souds a bit complicated but I have seen it done on other sites.
    thanks
    Jayne

  16. Hi Jayne,

You can’t integrate Wordpress with your WebEden website, as it works in a completely different way.

But what you could do is link to your Wordpress blog as an external site. You could then include links on your blog back to your main site.

  17. I am using the trial version of Web Eden and really like it. I am creating a photography website but find teh uploading process inhibitory. Is there a way to upload many pics in bulk from the folder onto the web page?

    Many Thanks,
    Sarah

    Comment by Sarah — September 24, 2009 @ 10:49 pm

  18. Hi Sarah,

You can bulk upload from your PC to the folder, but not bulk upload from the folder to your site - there is no faster way to do this I’m afraid.

  19. I’m trying to upload some content into a new webpage i’m working on, but i’m not getting a browser window pop up when i try to either upload any files/images or when i try to manage my files… any help would be appriciated.

    Comment by Des — September 28, 2009 @ 8:59 pm

  20. Hi Des,

Are you in edit mode - logged into your site and with the edit control panel up? If not, click ‘edit my site’ when you are logged in.

Are you then able to open the file manager (the folder icon)?

If these questions don’t help, then please can you send me your username etc. to ken@webeden.net

    Thanks
    Ken

Can you let us know what your username & password is so we can look into it? Can you send it through to ken@webeden.net to keep it private.

  23. Hi, is there a problem with the web builder site today. I am unable to access MyFiles folder to upload files and images in Edit mode?

    Comment by Colin Griffin — November 9, 2009 @ 9:58 am

  24. Hi Colin,

We’ve have no reports here of general issues. At the risk of sounding like a typical computer support bod, please can you try logging out and in again to see if that helps?

    Thanks,
    Ken

  25. Hi Ken,

I discovered that the source of my problem was enabling the Ad Blocker in Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. Once I disabled this the problem was resolved and I was able to access MyFiles folder and upload as normal. When I had finished uploading I re-enabled the Ad Blocker until I next need to edit the site. Many thanks for your prompt attempt to assist.

    Regards,

    Colin

That’s a relief! I’m glad the problem is solved.

We’ll make sure to pass your advice on to other WebEden customers.
