Hi. I bought a domain name from a different site and unlocked it 6 days ago but the webeden site keeps telling me its still locked. What do I do next. Can anybody help please?

Is it worth buying the .com and .co.uk and .net ...etc to stop other companies having similar website addresses to your own website. Simply so that customers do not get confused between the websites especially if your website has a name that is quite popular and could be used by other companies in the future? Thank you

I had a domain name assigned to a website, it was due for renewal mid march, unfortunately i was in hospital and could not renew it in time. it now does not give me the option to renew and and it will not allow me to buy it on search as it says still unavailable. how do i get it back again.

Hi I purchased the domain name today via webeden and it is not transferred as yet - I am getting the message "please ask your domain name provider to point the cname record for this address" ....... when I have done this in the past - it transferred immediately - any ideas? the domain name is www.karinyoungertraining.co.uk

Clarification on Domain transfer

I am just about to start a transfer of a domain (wintet.com) to Webeden, but wanted to clarify a few points to be sure that I did this correctly:

1. In the Webeden FAQs it mentions the C NAME record and the DNS A-record. My current hosting service (uk2.net), for a transfer out, tells me to enter the "new DNS Nameservers" it wasnt clear if this is the C NAME field or the DNS A Record.

2. My domain name subscription expires in about 5 days, I assume that I can re-new this with Webeden. Should I do the domain transfer and the domain subscription at the same time?

Any help much appreciated.

I am trying to point a domain to my webeden site.

I want my webeden site to point to www.shedfactoryireland.ie
when I go to input the DNS A RECORD and CNAME I have numerous options.

Nameserver 1: ns1.alwaysamber.ie
Nameserver 2:ns2.alwaysamber.ie

Do I change these?

I have purchased a domain name through you for a client and I have assigned it to a website (I'll call it website 1). They have now decided that they want to use that original domain name for another site (website 2) which I need to build. So I need to register a new domain name for website 1 which is fine but how do I build a new website (website 2) and assign the original domain name to it?

Does that make any sense?

Really stupid question, but i might have to point an external domain to my web eden design.

Is my webeden hosted on www.CLIENTNAME.webeden.co.uk or do i have to purchase a 'real' domain e.g. www.CLIENTNAME.co.uk and point to this one?

Also, if webeden is the host where do the emails go if already hosted on the other external domain?

Hi,
My domain name is held by an external site and will be for another 40+ days.
I was advised by the sitebuilder team that I can still use the domain name but need to set my full record (inc www.) to *CNAME and the following link cdn.sitemakerlive.com, but the page cannot be found.
I am only a little tech savy and to be honest have no idea how to actually do any of this.
Any help will be very much appreciate it, but please explain things as simply as possible. I think I need an idiots guide lol

Pending transfer

I have designed a new website with webeden and it is currently being used under the domain name www.damerhamcc.webeden.co.uk, 11 days ago I requested a transfer of my own domain www.damerhamcc.com, the status Is still set at pending! My old Host supplied me with an authorisation key which I passed On to webeden and they also unlocked it ready for transfer, I have also accepted the email request by GANDI but still the transfer is pending. Has anyone got any advice on what to do? No one can access the site until the transfer completes.

Hi there,

I need a little help with transferring my domain name. I've followed the procedure, and had the emails confirming that the transfer has gone through sucessfully. Howver, if you typed in my domain name (www.iconmakeup.co.uk) it went back through to 123-reg. Now I've logged in to 123-reg and "forwarded" the address through to my webeden one, so it will open up my website, but its then listed as iconmakeup.webeden.co.uk, which is not what I want (I obviously want to show as www.iconmakeup.co.uk).

Can you help please??

Transfering domain name over to GANDI - lost in space?

Hello, can someone help me?
I have designed www.soundabout.webeden.co.uk and have now asked our old webmaster to get our host to transfer our www.soundabout.org.uk over to GANDI a few days ago. Someone from this forum kindly gave me advice on this last week which I duly undertook - however, when I go to my webeden webdesign domain section - I notice that my request for soundabout.org.uk is still pending. Also, now I notice that our original - www.soundabout.org.uk - has been taken off the internet leaving a detailed page saying that this website is now not available to view.

Is there something else I need to be doing? I suppose I am getting concerned as we are a charity and we need a web presence and this process is becoming frightening especially as we no longer have our old website up on the net now.

Can someone give me some advice? I have just designed a website with wededen www.soundabout.webeden.co.uk and now want to have our known named website www.soundabout.org.uk transfered over to webeden so that the website which I have designed can become our official charities website e.g. www.soundabout.org.uk. I started the process yesterday (I think) by paying £10.99 for a transfer of our official website name - (I notice it says - pending) I have also contacted our current host and managers of that website saying that we intend moving - I have also told them that they should recieve a FOA (form of authorization) shortly telling them (I think) to repoint our name over to gandi and webeden. My question is: firstly, am I following the right procedure? and secondly, I am a bit concerned that webeden will be sending the owner of www.soundabout.org.uk an email to confirm we can move this website over to gandi and webeden: however, no one in our office knows who set up the first soundabout.org.uk website (a few CEO's before me) and we have turned the office over looking to find out who set up the negiotiations with the first web designers and passwords etc. Will this be a problem?

I have one more question: will our current host and webmasters have that detail - as our charity moved over to them in 2009? Thank you for your time on this. I have loved making our new website through your software, it was an absolute delight to make it and we can't wait to have our proper name www.soundabout.org.uk attached to it.

Any help will be gratefully received.

....today I typed in the domain name of my most recent website www.thewildwoodtarot.com and was almost sick with fright when it brought up the moonfruit home page and not my website (tried to go straight to site from my status bar). It did the same thing another twice when I performed the same action. Then, it went back to the website a-ok. What in the heck happened? Anyone got any idea?

GoDaddy | Domain name pointing query

My client has a domain name registered with godaddy and I want to point the domain to my webeden site for them. So, I need to change the A record to the 192.148.... number that is WEBEDEN's. The godaddy page is one that I've not been on before and I can see an A record section with 64.202.189.170 listed as the 'point to'.

Is this the only bit that I change?

Do I need to do something with the CNAME (which, with godaddy has a mindbloggling array of things to consider?)

Or do I need to change the two name servers?

Sorry about this - I'm so used to using either yourselves or 123-reg, having to use godaddy is just confusing me!

Poscript: I have set the domain name up to forward to the webeden site with masking. But that's not ideal, right? Doesn't masking interfere with the google analytics or something?

Im having some really weird domain issues lately, I have one site which is refusing to change from a .webeden to its domain, one of my longest serving sites is starting to change also, I really do not need that to happen!
Can you help?
the first is Classic.webeden.co.uk which should be www.classicandsupercars.co.uk second is OneCoventry.co.uk, the latter is when I post links on facebook, the pages I link do not apear but the home page and the .webeden Url does.
