When did you build your website?
I started it for an artist client, Ruth Slater, a few months ago, but only recently persuaded the artist to let me redesign the site to better reflect her 'brand'.

Why did you build a website?
I wanted this artist (and others that I've worked for) to have a window on the web. Staging exhibitions or renting gallery space is so expensive, a virtual shop-window is a much simpler and less expensive way to let people see what you can do.

What do you like best about your website?
the e-commerce pages - easy to set up. I used the option that allowed the thumbnails to be expanded - but made each gallery a 1 x 1 image. I think it's a good way to show off artwork.

What is your best website building tip?
Don't be afraid to explore lots of options that you have never tried before - the software is updated regularly with new templates and tools, it's worth playing with them to see whether something that you weren't considering might work brilliantly for you. If it doesn't, it's all easily changed again.

I am a disabled woman who wanted to start up my own business, after doing some research I realized that there were no Wedding Planners who specialized in disabled weddings.

So I found a home learning school who offered the course in wedding planning. I took the course and passed. Once I passed, I needed a website to advertise my business and expertise, already having a couple of sites with webeden, who better to go with for my business site.

What do you like best about your website?
I love how easy it was to create my site from scratch. As I obviously need to stand out from other wedding planner sites, I like the templates supplied but I wanted something different and unique. Why did you build a website?
I lost my job and i couldn't get a new one that I liked, so I decided to employ myself - but I couldn't afford an expensive one after I lost a lot of money in an expensive divorce. Sad but true! Really glad now that I did build it as I can update it myself and I don't need to pay anyone to do it. I now actively encourage the SME's that I consult for to use web eden - and not just because of the cost savings but because of the functionality. I think you should have a commission structure for referrals!!!

What do you like best about your website?
It looks like it cost a lot to build. I've worked with some £100 per hour code writers and I think my site looks as good as many of the £1500 sites they've done - yet mine cost me £5.99 + my time (and I love it that much more because I built it myself - without any web design skills).

What is your best website building tip?
Less is more. Lots of blank space. And good images. Not from google! Spend money on istock at the very least! And people's attention spans for a page are usually less than 5 seconds so make sure the information is laid out very clearly and simply - with a 'call to action' encouraging them to 'do' something.

The website now reflects everything around my buisness and has helped me get my design work out there.

The thing I like most about my website, is that its simple direct and easy for my customers to find out what they need without having a website jammed full of imformation. All my photography is original and flows nicely with the webeden software.

Me and my boyfriend decided to start selling our own Photographic, Graphic and Contemporary Art. We knew having a website was an essential marketing tool and I was keen for us to design and build our own.

What do you like best about your website?
The thing I like best about our website is that we have complete control over the design and content and can modify it at any time. Also, it looks great! It’s clear, concise, easy to navigate and is on brand.

What is your best website building tip?
My best tip is to keep asking for feedback from friends, family and customers and be open to suggestions and criticism. Another tip is to plan for the future… think about what you might need from your website a few months/years down the line. It is much easier to make changes if they have been planned into the design from the start.

Why did you build a website?

One of my rivals had hijacked the advertising space on a whisky information site I was advertising on. So I thought why not build my own and use it to advertise my commercial website

The flexibility, I can add flash video, twitter feeds, news feeds, all this makes it easy to keep the website looking up to date.

Plus the ease of use, I am a one eyed one finger 50 plus (never been taught) webbie so if I can do it any one can

Use twitter and Google news feeds. these can be added so as to be always updating your website even when you cannot.

I started to build the website in January 2010 having been let down by many webmasters who couldnt update the website when I needed to add new acts and artists.

Why did you build a website?

Take your time when building pages. Include [b]BOLD[/b] to highlight the important text
Be to the point, dont ramble or make the page to long, visitors will get bored
Include YouTube, Slide Shows or Audio Player if you deal with Acts and Artists.
Preview your page and if you think it doesnt stand out you can change it their and then.
Dont use a lot of animations, it sometimes can put people off.

I like Webeden and the ease of use with the extensive functionality it gives you, the options are unlimited and I could achieve everything I wanted and more to reach my customers. The site has almost 300 pages and has the look and feel of a major shopping website.

When did you build your website? I started buiding this site in around Feb this year -0 it has around 1000 products!
Why did you build a website? I do not have a bricks and mortar location and met the main suppliers during a business meeting to discuss a totally different proposal. I like what they did and they agreed to supply me with their range.
What do you like best about your website? It took many months of hard work. It taught be a lot about site building and gave me the confidence to build other sites - which I am doing now.
What is your best website building tip? Have a clear head - if you need to walk away for an hour or two - do so, you'll come back refreshed and will be much more productive. Work out a method that you can use to save time in building your site - especially if you have to duplicate certain aspects of your work
